"formidable or?" evaluation #6

formidable license got more expensive and restrictive.

i'm evaluating https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-libre-form/

and i consider https://github.com/oomphinc/WP-Forms-API as possible alternative.

both are (for now) less "user friendly" than formidable but are (really) free.

Another option I came across recently is Torro Forms: https://github.com/awsmug/torro-forms

oh, yes! it looks good!

no idea why i could not any reference to it in google or in the plugins list.

yesterday, evening i tested wp-libre-form and it's not bad.

i could recreate the "talks submission" form.

it's not drag and drop but:

the html is very standard and simple
it should be possible to add a jquery interface for the form creation.

there are a few things that surprised me a bit, but the code base is very small and it should be easy to extend it to do fancy things! and the extension can be published as open source... of course : - )

i had a quick look at torro forms:

it's mainly geared towards questionnaires
it already contains bits for enforcing non free plugins (which let's me think that in the future the interesting bits will not be free software)

i think that it would work ok for the lgm site, but it does not look like a long term solution.

i've created a submission form with "wp libre form". let's hope it's good enough, for now.
