Settings and highscore are not saved properly sometimes #79

I've changed for King of Fighters '95 in MVS mode:

-1 coin 2 credit to 1 coin 1 credit for 2P -Level 4 to Level 3

Sometimes these settings, the highscore are reset and sometimes are saved, tried both options to access settings menu by "Diagnostic Input" and by "Setting mode"

You'll have to give me proper step-by-step to reproduce, i don't have this issue. Also you should post your logs and give all important information that could help (RA features enabled, core options, bios settings, ... anything). As far as i'm concerned, it seems like an issue specific to your setup, and while i don't mind helping with it to a certain degree, i don't want to spend my time asking questions.

Right now, the 2 things that come to mind :

CPU overclok is 100 and I haven't played using netplay, besides I have a remap of controller, using a shader .glslp, and external app joy2key for macro buttons, here it is the core options:

And here retroarch cfg file, maybe a log file I've just generated is not necessary, so if you need something more just tell me, thanks.

I think retroarch cfg file is not necessary just to tell you that I haven't touched the settings of latency those for "Runahead" and "Hard gpu sync" are off.

I want to see your logs too. It might be worth mentioning your hardware too, and be more specific about the version of RA windows you are using (possibly, post the link), there is a dozen of them available on the buildbot. You never changed bios or overclock settings ? I've seen eeproms getting messed up even after reverting to standard values. Your RA setup is on a local disk ? You are using RA's UI or command line to load your games ? If you are using RA's UI, do you load several games in a row without restarting RA ? When you say it happens "sometimes", could you be more precise ?

Also, it should be obvious, but make sure you are using latest core version.

Again, a step-by-step guide to reproduce your issue would be nice, otherwise i'm not sure this issue is getting anywhere.

You never changed bios or overclock settings ?

Your RA setup is on a local disk ?

You are using RA's UI or command line to load your games ? If you are using RA's UI, do you load several games in a row without restarting RA ?

When you say it happens "sometimes", could you be more precise ?

Also, it should be obvious, but make sure you are using latest core version.

Again, a step-by-step guide to reproduce your issue would be nice, otherwise i'm not sure this issue is getting anywhere.

No, settings and highscores are OK in both case for me.

I double-checked and the core properly load saved rom service settings & hiscores when you load a rom, and properly save rom's current service settings & hiscores when you unload it (= close content), there is no doubt about this. NB : current service settings & hiscores are overriden by content of the savestate when you load one, and you are doing some heavy usage of savestates it seems.

Also, i think having [INFO] [Font]: Using font rendering backend: freetype. spamming 950 times in your logs is a matter of concern, it doesn't happen here.

Idk what's causing your issue, it might be related to the [INFO] [Font]: Using font rendering backend: freetype. spam which i think is weird, it might be related to cheevos (perhaps some kind of memory poisoning ?), or it might be related to something else. Anyway i won't be able to help, the core in itself is working properly.

By the way in which cases the .fs files are reset?? I found one by switching from MVS to AES for neo geo games, and being off-topic is there a list of games supporting highscores?
