We have changed the name to avoid any future conflict. It is indeed best not to bother them about the Libretro core as this can easily unnecessarily escalate, probably best to refrain from talking about it.
As for lightguns - can't really comment on this at the time. We are working hard on other parts of the codebase right now. We can return to this topic at a later time.

Thanks for the update, the comments from the PCSX2 development team were very unprofessional.
If there is any way I can contribute or help with development as I would be keen to help out with Light Gun support, please let me know. I'm mainly a C#/Typescript programmer full time but I couldn't see any build guides here so I might just go in blind and see if I can build with cmake then go from there?
There are regular commits on this repo though so work is ongoing, I trust that development of this emulator is still regular based on that. I will see what I can do to help!
The core is now renamed and has no more ties to PCSX2. We ask any contributor or user to not file bug reports with PCSX2 mainline repo pertaining to LRPS2. We consider the situation resolved and closed for now.
More of a feature request/general question here - what is missing here currently to use Light Guns with Retroarch's Light Gun support? I am interested in helping out as I use EmuVR with Retroarch to play Light Gun games in VR with the other cores that support it but PCSX2 core has had this missing for a while.
I asked about this on the main PCSX2 repo here https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/7534#issuecomment-1357394471 To which I was rudely sneered at by developers of PCSX2 saying that the Libretro Retroarch core for PCSX2 is inferior and doesn't receive the same level of updates.
Just wondering what is missing or if I can help out with support for Light Guns in the PCSX2 Core? I am an experienced C# game programmer but emulation is new to me. I just want to play some PS2 Guncon games in EmuVR!
