Same problem ... The games also work with Retroarch version 1.7.4. Thanks @jtranslator for the suggestions, I will try 1.8.4.

Did you make sure the games come from the appropriate ROMset? With arcade cores/games, the ROMs you need update along with the core.

Either way, I'm pretty sure this is a core issue rather than a RetroArch issue.

no problem with the ROMs , because i can run my favourite games with version 1.8.4. (version 1.8.2~1.8.4: i can run Garou Mark Of The Wolves (& bigger NeoGeo ROMs) and CPS 3 ROMs)

yes agree.. maybe the FB core problems (1.8.5 ~ 1.8.9)

I can confirm the problem. I have not tried versions prior to 1.8.9, but both 1.8.9 and 1.9.0 I have not been able to run any game, not even SNES. I tried CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo and only got a black screen and going back to HBC. In one situation, the system froze completely.

I will try version 1.8.4.

The only way i fund to run cps3/neo geo large rom is to run this modified version of retroarch. For other system the core in the latest version of retroarch work like charm, but you must have a clean dump of the rom. Also i don't understand why the retroarch official build does not enabled by default the WII_VM define in source code. The commit is old now, the define is present in fbalpha2012_neogeo/makefile.libretro and in fbalpha2012_cps3/svn-current/trunk/makefile.libretro. Why the official WII build of retroarch does not build this part of code is a greate mystery for me :(.
