[Feature Request] autoscan for devices hosting RA on the network for use with remote retropad #13497

Updated issue: Would be nice to autoscan for devices hosting RA on the network and display them in the options menu to select when using remote retropads. Using manual IPs as a fallback still.

The remote retropad does exactly this, AFAIK. You go into 'load core' and then 'start remote retropad', then go into quick menu > options and set the IP address of the one you want to cast to.

Thanks for the info, never noticed this before. Entering the IP though certainly adds a complexity to this for real life situations.

I updated the original post.

Is there another step once you set the ip? Doesn't seem to do anything for me once I set the ip.

hizzlekizzle commented 2 years ago

you may need to close the core and reopen it. I think maybe it only connects on core start or something...? I haven't actually used it myself.

Not sure , once you "start remote" that takes the place of a core and nothing seems to happen even if I enter the correct IP then close and start it again.

@Cthulhu-throwaway What's your take on this? Interesting/desirable idea or nah?
