Steam Deck - No way to open menu/quit game by default #14264

Open Tschrock opened 2 years ago

Tschrock commented 2 years ago

Description

I installed Installed RetroArch from Steam on my Steam Deck, ran an SNES game, and then spent way too long googling how to close the game before I gave up and had to force-quit RetroArch from the Steam menu.

Relevant code: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/blob/e083c46d6e55ce48b1199145875859c099a78f87/config.def.h#L863-L865 On PC platforms, the default configuration doesn't have a menu toggle.

Expected behavior

There should be a default way to bring up the menu or exit the game from a controller.

Actual behavior

Can't open up the menu or exit the game

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Install RetroArch on a Steam Deck
  2. Play a game

Same problem for me. Steam OS, Steam Deck, Reteoarcch 1.13.0, any combo doesnt work to toogle menu. Steam version of RA works fine.

even worse, if you make the mistake of running it from the steam deck desktop there is no steam menu when one presses the steam, button, lol - i did eventually figure out win+tab to switch to steam and force stop (but i saw this issue on guthub before i figured that out)

Same here. Steam Deck Desktop, RetroArch(Steam version), playing game with DeSmuME core. Tried every key combo to open the menu or pause the game, none of them gives any feedback. Pressing L2 once pauses the game and white out the game screen, nothing else. I had to force turning off the system to quit game. Not sure how to press Win+tab when I don’t have any virtual or bluetooth keyboard.
