Description

Xbox series s Since feb 2024 Retroarch latest version After i down and extract assets, the screen turns black. Also, if i try to start a game, any core, aound plays but screen stays black. I tried all video drivers, same result. I tried to change the resolution of reteoarch, no success.

Expected behavior

Before xbox series s system update before feb 2024, all worked good. No blackscreen after extracting new assets. Core played games perfectly.

Actual behavior

Screen turn black but sound does play. It is as if retroarch is working but does not output video correctly anymore.

Since this also happens after i update the retroarch aeests, i suspect it is not linked to cores but to retroarch video output, any driver on xbox series x after ms updated the system.

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Update xbox to latest system version/os
  2. install retroarxh latest version
  3. update assests or just start a game

Latest retroarch version. Xbox series s, latest system update installed.

Just out of curiosity the resolution of your xbox is in 4K? This is not a retroarch problem, As it has been reported there is a problem with other applications on Series S, this does not happen on Series X. To fix it just lower your Xbox resolution to 1080p.

I have tried to change the resolution of the window to lower res as redit posted indeed the 4k issue newly introduced after the series s system update. However, i probalby do something wrong. The res is lower but the issie remains.

Same issue here with a Series S. You will need to set the output resolution lower in the xbox setting menu. Changing this within retroarch doesn't resolve this.

When you set it 1080p you will be able to enjoy Retroarch once more ;)

This is relaxed to the software update of MS.

Indeed that workaround does the trick. Now working in 1080 instead of 4k res via xbox settings. I hope retroarch can fix the issue soon.

Input lag increases slightly on my TV when I use 1080p :( It works though
