(REQUEST) Adding Full Touch Support (WiiU) #5294

Open Ploggy opened 7 years ago

The WiiU has come along way in the last few months but there is one thing missing that should be one of the main staples to having Retroarch on the WiiU Tablet Controller.. Touch Support. The WiiU currently has a Touch Screen that is totally underutilised atm. (actually tapping the screen does bring up the Retroarch Menu, but then again so does pressing the Home Button)

But hopefully someone can come and implement that into Retroarch WiiU.

My idea for Touch support on WiiU is to be able to Control The Retroarch UI and to Control (Arcade/Console) games that require a light gun (tap to shoot) or to be used with the recent Computer Cores that have been added (Amstrad/C16/C64 and Amiga) that utilise an onscreen Virtual Keyboard.

I'm adding this under Issues so I can turn this into a bounty if needed. I want to see where this sits with people first to see if people would want this as a WiiU addition.

Thanks.

Thank You! @quarktheawesome tbh I thought this was going to get looked at, so than you for taking the time to look into it. If there's anything I can do to help out just ask. It'll be great if this can turn in to full touch support, I think the WiiU port would really benefit from it :)

Does WiiU touchscreen fully work now? Can this be closed @QuarkTheAwesome, or does more work still remain?

@QuarkTheAwesome It seems the touchscreen no longer properly works in the current version of RetroArch. Touching the display at any location causes the cursor to snap to the center of the screen. It works correctly in v1.7.1 but every newer version that I have tried has this issue. I have only experienced it under the ScummVM core but I don't know of any other cores or games that I can test the touchscreen with.

I was going to submit an issue but I saw that this ticket was still open. Just let me know if you would rather I put in a new issue.
