Noticed after changing this setting while playing Terranigma (Europe). Using bsnes-mercury-performance. The aspect ratio changed correctly during gameplay, but when loading any roms after changing this setting, there's no video, only a black screen. Changing the setting back to "auto" during gameplay gets rid of the black screen immediately.
Tried downloading bsnes-mercury-balanced and found the same issue.
To replicate: Load an SNES rom. In core options change "Preferred Aspect Ratio" to "ntsc". Close content. Load an SNES rom. Audio will play over a black screen. Open menu. Change "Preferred Aspect Ratio" back to "auto". Close menu. Game will instantly appear.
OS: Windows 10
Retroarch version: 1.7.6
Core(s): bsnes-mercury-performance and bsnes-mercury-balanced
