Issue description

Game crashes after the Sony Computer Entertainment America screen.

Step-by-step reproduction and logs

Just boot the game and it happens

notaz commented 8 months ago

This game works on all my hardware so I can't really help here.

Ploggy commented 8 months ago

I get the same type of crash with Gran Turismo 2 Arcade Disc as well, will load the first screen then black screen freeze loading the next. Strange that it only effects the WiiU but it maybe Lightrec related since both games boot fine when set to Interpreter?

notaz commented 8 months ago

Yeah should be Lightrec then.

Hyperguy64 commented 8 months ago

How can I change from lightrec to interpreter?

How can I change from lightrec to interpreter?

Once Ingame... Open the Quick Menu. Goto Core Options. Goto System. Set Dynamic Recompiler = Off

Just know performance will take a hit when you turn off the Dynamic Recompiler.

Hyperguy64 commented 8 months ago

The game can boot when I set it to interpreter but also brought down the performance like you said. Is there any way to keep it set to interpreter without it affecting performance?

Hyperguy64 commented 8 months ago

Also ran into the issue of the guitar either not making not making noise at all or screeching. Is that the emulator or can that be fixed in the settings?

Sadly no, its one or the other, until there's a fix for the crash.

Hyperguy64 commented 8 months ago

Alright then. Imma just chalk it down to it not being compatible on my Wii U. Thank you very much for everything!

Ploggy commented 8 months ago

If you really want to play the game on a WiiU you can always play it on WiiSX through vWii ;)

Also this issue should stay open because its still an active issue.

pcercuei commented 8 months ago

Yeah should be Lightrec then.

Um Jammer Lammy runs perfectly fine in CubeSX / WiiSX (which now uses this repo as submodule so is closely related) with Lightrec.

notaz commented 7 months ago

Lightrec definitely has problems with this game even on PC, I wasn't able to complete the first level, it either softlocks or outright crashes the emu randomly. Sadly it doesn't seem to trigger in demo mode, you have to actually play the game.

pcercuei commented 7 months ago

I confused it with Vib-Ribbon, I think. Indeed Lightrec seems to have problems with Um Jammer Lammy.

pcercuei commented 7 months ago

It works fine on PC now, but it still seems to crash on WiiU...

w72k24 commented 5 months ago

Hi, I can confirm it is still crashing on release r241 (1fec8a9). Using the PAL version w/ its corresponding EU BIOS. No crashes seen on the interpreter.

OK when running this game in Aroma RA on WiiU the game now boots and gets ingame! but once the Rapping (lol) starts the players audio will be all static-y but the CPU characters audio will be fine..

I checked the other games of this type (Vib Ribbon and Parappa the Rapper) just to make sure and those games audio is fine.

That's with the threaded SPU option enabled?

No it happens with everything default, in fact the build I'm using doesn't have the Threaded SPU option re-implemented yet .. I should confirm my issue with Um Jammer Lammy is not a Lightrec issue. It happens in interpreter too.
