This one could likely be closed, there were some design concerns over at https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/pull/8871

Per recommendation from @RobLoach, I'm going to go ahead and close the request. I'd love to see @MrHomebrew tackle the design concerns on libretro/RetroArch#8871 and resubmit the PR.
