I agree with @RobLoach. I have a few other suggestions:
It would be helpful if you could possibly add source SVG files at /src/xmb/flatui. We try to maintain a complete source library for all contributors to work out from.
I'd recommend removing the word "Arcade" on all the MAME icons. Final Burn technically covers "Arcade" as well, and there are frequent situations where an end user will have multiple arcade playlists show up after scanning. Long-term I'd personally love to see this simplified to the point where "Arcade" was treated like a single playlist, and MAME and FB were treated as cores an end user can select, but for now we have to work with it the way it is.
Because there are so many different versions of MAME that can show up as playlist, it may be wise to differentiating them somehow. You could do a palette swap, or you could opt to put the year on the screen or marquee. I know putting the year goes against the text recommendation, but in extreme circumstances such as these, sometimes you have to make exceptions.
On the PS2 icon, I'd recommend going dark to make it more recognizable as a standard DualShock 2 controller. If you'd like to leave the light controller in as a separate easter egg file, feel free to do so.
Do a quick double check and make sure all the design elements lineup on the grid. For a 256 pixel canvas, you should work with a 64x64 grid. When I put the PNG in Illustrator, it doesn't lineup on the grid for me. But I've seen differences between Illustrator and Inkscape, so perhaps it is snapped to the grid already.
