Modify coordinate rendering to make styling easier in Lila #303

so far, this is what the board looks like in Lila. the coordinates are on top of each other in the center of the board:

It seems to me that the styling is correct here, and our styling issues are just lila related after all. Sorry for the misdirection there. You can probably close this PR.
