I propose a feature which would make it easy to tell, with one glance, whether the position being shown on the board is a mainline or sideline.
The most obvious way to do it is to slightly change the board colors (e.g., by applying a filter on top of it) when we are on a sideline.
The main use case for this feature is for streamers and video creators.
Streamers and video creators often only include the chess board and not the analysis tools showing the moves; so a viewer can get lost if what is being shown is the actual game/puzzle solution, or a variation.
A viewer who joins can instantly tell if what is being shown is the mainline or a sideline.
This can be a great feature for when Lichess is used to show games from ongoing professional tournaments, or to recap them on video. Even if many variations are shown, the viewer will not be lost and will be able to easily tell when the current line from the game is shown.
