http://www.chesstree.net/ this thing rocks we need to make one better for all variants lichess needs to claim the lead for developing an opening book and opening names & code for variants :P

probably helps #1000 maybe this issue belongs on ornicar/scalachess rel ornicar/scalachess#42

So far the one they have on chesstempo (premium) seems the best one for me, if having a look at what it does could eventually help. What it should have that some other sites lack: 1) Show the name of the current opening 2) Actually be able to drag pieces (that's obvious I think, but not for some sites apparently) 3) Maybe show the top couple moves on the board with arrows

Unihedro commented 9 years ago

Yeah, one thing Lichess already has support for would be on-board arrows, which other sites don't bother adding the fanciness for.

If ornicar cbas, I'll try to work on it after my assigned tasks. I'd really like to see one air!

A lot of informations here (regular chess) : https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Chess_Opening_Theory/ECO_volume_A Here, nice too (but not more free after some moves ) : http://www.chessgames.com/perl/explorer

Unihedro commented 9 years ago

yes, ECO codes are well documented, lichess already uses them

the part about opening codes for all variants refers to non-standard games
