Here's the v2 play UI on a tablet. I would say it's actually optimized for left handed by default. You do want to have the board on the left side, right? If anything I should add a right-handed option to change it.
I think a lefty UI would have the moves + resign/draw on the left. The board looks the same everywhere. The problem is reaching across the board for buttons/menus.
Currently there's no functionality to toggle the UI to improve functionality for lefties. As a lefty, the most noticeable issue for me is the move box being stuck on the right side. Menus aren't ideal but I think most lefties are used to that. During games or the analysis of games especially, its very inconvenient to repeatedly reach across on a tablet to look at and change the selected moves. During puzzles its the same issue. When I am solving an annotated puzzle, potentially with multiple 'chapters', I want to see the board while being able to explore options. With the current UI I can't do this as my arm covers the board when I reach across. I don't use lichess on a phone(Im on ipad) but I imagine the same or worse there with the thumb-to-screen ratio much larger than arm-to-screen. Userstyles, etc aren't available in safari ios version. I think a site menu option wouldn't be hard to implement and would greatly improve the experience for lefty players on mobile
