I still think it is a very useful for self-improvement. Coaches on lichess can make it part of student's practice. I also this it is quite easy to implement considering, PGN already allows inline comments between moves. So it will be mainly about providing facility through UI to add comments from move list.
yeah this would be VERY helpfull
This would be a great feature for chess students for self-improvement. There is a notes feature, but it is limited to whole game level notes. But if we could add notes to specific positions in the game, it would be of immense help.
For example, I'm playing a correspondence game. The game is still on. My thought process for each and every move is fresh in my mind. I could add a note or two for some interesting positions about my thought process. These of course should only be visible to me. At the end of the game, I could review my thought process, and may be compare with computer analysis. This will help me to understand where I went wrong in my thinking during the game.
Maybe I am unable to explain this simply, for this feature request to be taken seriously.

When I play long games or correspondence, I like to write down my thinking during the game. This helps me when analyzing the game later. Private notes is of great help here.
However, currently there is no way to provide notes for particular position. This is something a study feature provides, but it can be within the on-going game itself as part of private notes or analysis board.
This way, just like the results of computer analysis, our notes will appear along side the moves. This would be of great help later to study our thinking during the play and find areas of improvements.
I think this will also help coaches as they can direct students to record their thought process during the game and later analyze the weaknesses in their play.
This feature can be implemented as an enhancement of private notes and/or as note taking facility in analysis board.
