I think this one will be more complicated. I'd like it to follow server preference while still working offline.

To my understanding, these changes will not alter the offline mode behavior. If that needs to be changed, then that seems like a different task altogether.

Agreed this is another task. Until we deal with #763 this is better than nothing. Thanks!
