[Epic] Scholarch residency plus Life Itself videos by John Oliver #790

In mid August 2023 we did:

Job Story

When we have an event with amazing people we want to interview them so that we can share both insight and sense of event outside of the event

When we have Life Itself-ers together we want to interview them so that we can have material to share more widely to communicate what life itself is up to etc

When we have a bunch of footage we want to (select and) publish it so that others benefit from the content

- [x] make a copy of uploaded recordings so that we have them on "life itself account" and move to relevant folders on gdrive

2023-09-12 @rufuspollock The files has been copied across. The majority are still processing. Once they have been completed I will do spot checks in each folder. So far the ones that have processed are all fine. I will update and confirm when I have checked all of them. And also reply to the email thread to update John. Here is the pathway to where they are on the shared drive

I can generate the transcripts of Rufus' and Sylvie's recordings using my new video editing software, and even provide you with an 'invite' collaborator's access to my Web access account (the platform is called Descript). That will allow for direct commenting within the editing software. It's a text-led editing platform, so the selection of the highlighted text, directly applies to the video output - so potentially a streamlined workflow!

The final edited output then takes quite a bit of time to get the transitions smooth, lighting, audio setting all optimised, but at least the platform speeds up that initial process of scene selections.

I'll send a Descript access link ASAP next week, and then happy to follow up on the phone to check if the above proposal works for you. Cheers, John

Hi Alexia, I'll need a little more time - I've just replaced my laptop this morning, so reinstalling all the software, and needing to finish one priority client task before I upload Rufus' and Sylvie's videos. @alexianetcu let's move forward here - please just go ahead with the review of at least my video for now. I don't think this should be more than 2h initially (let's even keep it to that and see where you get to in the video).

If John can provide us with transcripts later that's great - and no reason not to move forward now on at least the first video.

Hi Alexia,

I've uploaded Rufus' interview into Descript, cut into two chapters (1h15 and 45min), so there's a good deal of content there!

I've gone ahead and done some initial cleaning up of filler-type words, and first adjustments for the image settings, so now ready for your review....

Could you please send me your email address, for me to add you as a collaborator on the Descript video editing platform?

The restrictions on Descript are (without your own subscription to Descript) that you can only comment on the transcript, vs. making actual edits.

One second alternative would be for you to go through these copies of the transcript and highlight the content...though best to avoid pls moving text around, to make the application of the edits in Descript easier to track.

Happy to discuss on the phone, to go through the various options on the editing approach! All the best, John

Hi Alexia, How are you getting on with the review of Rufus' video? Let me know if I can be of any assistance....it takes me roughly 2 days of editing for each hour of footage to get to the final version, so can be quite involved. Plus the workflow process will depend on which software package you're planning to use - if you've made a decision on that? The videos so far that I've edited from the Bergerac Hub August retreat are here (just in case you're not on the Comms Team email group): https://www.interiortruth.com/lifeitself

OK great Alexia....I've just completed uploading the 7 scholars' videos to the page https://www.interiortruth.com/lifeitself (which then points to my YouTube uploads). I've uploaded all the files to this cloud storage location, so that Life Itself can have its own copy (I'll send to the Comms Team too). Best, John

@shiweiart can you check the color versions (and once ok'd then we can start moving them over and john can remove them)

@moonimmisch another task for Thursday/Friday this week would be to copy across the files in this folder to our LI drive here in the color footage (edited) folder. You don't need to download you can copy across from one Gdrive to another by creating a copy and moving the copy across. I've done one as an example in the folder.

Yep, colour and quality looked good to me, although I guess I don't know what the normal standard is so let me know if there are any issues?

Hi @baouroux apologies for the delayed reply. This won't happen until the New Year. I will make a note to look into actioning this as a priority on the first week of January (I'm off next week) and then I can provide a more accurate update of when it will be live.
