restore backup of dpkg #192

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Delete file dpkg from /var/ using iphonebrowser

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Certain things I was able to download and install, I cannot anymore. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Newest version, on ipod touch 3g 3.1.2 firmware.

Please provide any additional information below.

It said that a backup would be made when I delete the file, I didn't know 
it was an essential file and now its gone. How do I locate the important 
files I deleted and restore them?
