Crash report windows 10 #329

Open TechSupport26 opened 11 months ago

TechSupport26 commented 11 months ago

I am running windows 10 here and after updating I am no longer able to open acorn. I get to the first loading screen and it gets stuck. Running it from the console gives a bit more info. (See below) Let me know if you need more information.

Acorn version 8.0.1

This effects other versions of acorn that are installed. I get to the same point with the same crash message.

so you're saying you could open Acorn v7 before... then you ran v8, then you can't run either?

TechSupport26 commented 11 months ago

Yes I can't run 7.x.x or higher but I can run versions below 7.x.x

Connoropolous commented 11 months ago

can you describe the whole narrative of your updating?

TechSupport26 commented 11 months ago

This is a vm that I am running so I don't need the information on it.

I updated to v8.0.0 from v7.1.0 using the built in updater. When I ran 8.0.0 everything was fine and projects came across. Then I went to 8.0.1 and I believe from that point I was not able to open Acorn.

I don't remember everything I did but I do know that I did do a factory reset on the Acorn v8.0.1 data.

I have now removed the data migration file and am now able to get past the initial loading stage. But get stuck at a white screen. I have removed 2 keystore files and databases 10 and 11 and now it is working. I don't have any projects but that is fine.

I also did this in a windows 11 vm with different results when updating. Projects were removed from v7.x.x No projects were migrated.

In debian everything was find for my laptop.

I also have a vm for debian and one thing that I have noticed is that when I went back to v7.1.0 I got an error "Query returned no rows"

TechSupport26 commented 11 months ago

I have gone through the process again and was able to repeat what I did.

When updating I chose to Reset my data and migrate. This is when I am no longer able to open acorn.

See if you can replicate.

Connoropolous commented 11 months ago

I think I understand the issue. thank you. We will work on a fix.

Meanwhile, are you in any need of support?

TechSupport26 commented 11 months ago

At the moment I do not. I have all my projects on my computer so everything is good and Acorn is working on both vms.

Thanks.
