The (copyrighted) guides provided freely online by the IAMAT are well worth a mention as they are more detailed, trustworthy and up to date than the Medicine section of the manual

For instance for snake bites the SurvivalManual advise:
"Use a constricting band between the wound and the heart."
"Remove the poison as soon as possible by using a mechanical suction device."
this last sentence about the mechanical suction device was removed in the 2018 version of the manual (#242 ) but the other one is still there. Reperfusion after several hours of blood restriction in a limb can result in a compartment syndrome which is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate surgery.

This is explicitly discouraged as "useless and potentially harmful" (causes local tissue necrosis): https://www.iamat.org/how-to-prevent-snake-bites https://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-B4-Extractor-Pump/product-reviews/B000AU9PEC
