MediaRouter loses routes

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open an app which uses the MediaRouter ActionBar provider.
2. Just wait for ca. 1 minute.
3. The cast button disappears from the action  bar-->The route is no longer 
availabile (the callback onRouteRemoved is launched), only way to find it again 
is to launch again the app.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The button should be visibile (route available) as long as there is a cast 
device available.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
It happens on a Nexus 4 with Android 4.4.4. Google Play Services 5.0.84. 
ChromeCast with build 17250.

Please provide any additional information below.
It doesn't seem to happen on the official Youtube app. It happens in all third 
part apps. If there is a way to prevent this, please provide istructions in the 
official documentation.

I have seen this exact same issue, it affects pretty much every third party app 
I've checked.
