Documentation omission #357

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The documentation for adding devices fails to mention that the option to send
the Chromecast's serial number to Google when checking for updates should be
enabled.

Can you explain what you mean? There is no need to have that checkbox checked
unless you want to register your device for development.

I wanted to register my device for development, but the instructions for doing
so didn't mention the need for having that checkbox on.

Go to https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/developers and look at the
section Get Started; item 1.c is what you were referring to.

Wouldn't hurt to mention that in the Devices section on
https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/registration too.

The "registration" section is about registering apps not device.

Well, no... the last section on that page (titled "Devices") talks about
registering devices surely as it explains where to get the serial number etc.

Everything under registration, including the device section, is about
instructions on how to complete the registration of app and device on the cast
developer console. In the Get Started, it talks about the chromecast device and
how to set it up, including the checkbox.
