Apple Remote behaves as if Movist wasn't open #84

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Pushing any of the buttons of the Apple Remote.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Under Leopard, Movist used to behave normally, but on Snow Leopard when I use
the remote to
control the player, the remote behaves as if Movist wasn't open.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 0.6.4 on Mac OS X 10.6.1

Please provide any additional information below.
For instance if I press the Play/Pause button on the remote, the movie that is
opened in Movist
starts/stops, but simultaneously iTunes opens and starts/stops playing the
first song in the list.
For the menu button, Front Row comes up etc.

I can confirm that. It's very annoying.

I have the same problem. I´ve just installed OS X 10.6.2 and I have this

No it's not. This is a system-wide OS X problem, it has nothing to do with
Movist.

As a work-around, you can install candelair (
http://www.iospirit.com/labs/candelair/
) and enable Leopard compatibility mode. This should make Movist, VLC, Plex,
&c.,
work like normal again.

Oks, thanks for your help, with calendair I can now use Movist normaly.

But i have to say something, with calendair activated, Movist works but VLC
don´t and
with calendair off is the contrary: VLC ok but Movist no.
It is not a prob, because mi 1st option is Movist, but i thank y had to say it.

It might be a problem of the operating system, I don't know, but the developers
of VLC have solved it with the
latest update (1.0.3), so there must be a way.

This problem is fixed in Movist v0.6.7. VLC's patch is applied.
Please check it again in v0.6.7. Thank you for feedback. ^^

How did you get the play/pause button working (0.6.7 + 10.6.2)? With candelair
and
compatible mode it does nothing, without the compatible mode or without
candelair the
up/down, left/right and menu buttons work but the play/pause and center button
does not.

Ummm.. sorry I don't know what you mean. I have the latest Movist and on 10.6.2
it works very well with the
remote without additional application or changing any settings at all.

So the play/pause button works fine for you? I have the same configuration and
play/pause button does nothing in movist.

Yeah it works perfectly, all buttons work well. I don't know anything about
candelair or compatible mode though.

None of this fixes the play/pause button not functioning using the new aluminum
remote. The play/pause button is not recognized at all.
You guys with the older plastic remote control it should work fine. The new
aluminum
remote has a new button. The center button is now "Select" and the play/pause
is a
new button on the bottom. Nothing on the remote causes play/pause. I can
confirm that
my old, cheap plastic remote that it works fine.

I had the same problem with alu remote. Try install Candelair (but important:
version 1.0.2 Dirver 1.7.2, the
newest 1.8.0 doesn´t work) That works for me.

I love this app it really just need its own icon, shutdown after playback and
for me
that play/pause button to work with Aluminium Remote

I have mac mini with 10.6.2 and Movist 0.6.7
Tried "Support Apple Remote" option on and off, and latest Candelair driver
nothing
make the play/pause button work.

I'll use this last line to thank you guys for developing Movist and putting it
for free.
