A suggestion #26

Hello.

As you already know, I'm using a lot xvid4psp 5.
But sometimes the video decoding options can't decode some videos. So I've to
change the windows Directshow preferred decoder in order to have xvid4psp being
able to decode that video.

My suggestion would be, why not adding an option in xvid4psp that would allow
us to change them from there?
Or adding this into the xvid4psp installer
http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_preferred_filter_tweaker.htm
with a link into xvidpsp tool menu to change those options, like you did for
virtualdub.

Hi!

"why not adding an option in xvid4psp that would allow us to change them from
there?" - because I don`t know how to do it.
"Or adding this into the xvid4psp installer" - this program requires
installation, and only works on Win7 (I can`t even install it on my XP), so I
don`t think it`s a good idea to add it into XviD4PSP package.

The best solution, probably, would be to create a custom portable package with
fully independent DirectShow splitters and filters (tuning as needed). But I
don`t know is it possible or not, how stable it will be and so on..

That might be an idea but I'm not sure it is the best one.
Doing that means that the filters needs to be always updated to the latest
ones, that's a lot of work.
Also if by chance one video can't be decoded then you leave out any option for
us to use our filters to decode that video.
