This has been long time on my to-address list. Normally I run with this setting off because it's just too annoying, but had occasion to set up a new server and remembered why: if your window is sized such that the 'apply' button happens to fall underneath this notice, you can't click it until the notice disappears - very very annoying.

My suggestion: get rid of that shadow-notice-whatever-its-called... instead how about this: have the 'Apply' button disabled until/unless someone changes a field in the corresponding form - at which point the button become enabled. This is how windows dialogs work & what most people would be used to.

It’s actually a double whammy with that one too. Not only can you not click it before it disappears, if you even accidentally hover over it before it does, it reactivates that overlay and reset the countdown timer.

Very annoying indeed, which is why I always turn that setting off, but I know that’s not the right solution to the problem.

When introduced the intend was to tell inexperienced users they need to do some action. I guess more experienced users turn it off, but it can be annoying when turned on !!

The 'apply' button disable/enable approach sounds good. I have a look at that.

The new approach with disabled/enabled APPLY button definitely is less annoying :)
