The difference between "reinstall from local" and manually dragging and dropping the mod into Limo again is that it automatically places the reinstalled mod's name into the "Add to Group"/ "Replace mod" field. If you chose either of these options, the reinstalled mod will take the old mods place in the load order of every deployer it is managed by and inherit the activation status. The difference between "Add to Group" and "Replace mod" is that replace actually replaces the files of the target mod, while "Add to Group" installs the new one as a different version. So if i understand you correctly, this should already do what you are proposing.
Ah yes I wasn't sure what the replace mod option did but sounds like its more like what i want, I do think it possibly could be nice to have an option to update from local that entire skips the dialog box and preserves all the mod's settings, just updating the files.
Also could reinstall from local could automatically carry over the name of the mod from before rather than defaulting to the folder name every time

I will add this as well as an equivalent for the version to the next update. It's probably also a good idea to default to Replace mod, since that is what reinstall from local implies.

This would have to be a separate menu entry since, at least in my experience, the main reason to reinstall a mod is to reinstall with different (FOMOD) options. I believe with the changes mentioned above this should not be necessary, since the Ok button is the default selection, so it would only save you one press of the enter button.
Yeah, those changes would be great, thanks!
The changes to Reinstall from local are in de92404 and part of update 1.0.6.
The current "reinstall from local" option is a bit much to use when you just want to update a specific mod from local files, as it is seemingly just completely importing the mod fresh rather than being able to just update the mod's files An "Update from local" option would be really nice, especially for mod developers, to be able to quickly update the files for their mods without worrying about changing the configuration for the mod in limo
