I am having the same problem as well. I have restored to 1.1.2 in iTunes and
repeated steps 1-13 in
iNdependence but I keep getting to the same point. I am using OS 10.5.1.

Same issue there.
Process worked fine with an iPhone bought on december 05 (1.1.2 OTB), but I
cannot
downgrade another iPhone bought on december 16 (1.1.2 OTB also).
I can downgrade it to 1.1.1 but no luck with 1.0.2 nor 1.0.1
Tried on a mac with 10.4.11, another mac with 10.5.1 and even a PC with XP.
I used iTunes 7.5 on each platform.

Help needed !

A little more info:

This appears to be a problem with phones with 1.1.2 installed OTB with the
04.02.13_G
baseband and the rev 4.6(?) bootloader.

The iNdependance successfully downgrades the phone to 1.1.1. It is not possible
to
further "step" down from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2. In addition, the 1.1.2 -> 1.1.1
downgrade
returns an iTunes error message with code 1015, not 1013.

The instructions posted here:
http://iphone.unlock.no/#Bypass-Activation-and-Jailbreak
work to jailbreak the phone and activate it's features, however, they do not
activate
the edge modem, even with an AT&T sim card.

Baseband downgrade fails on these phones as well.

I purchased my iPhone on Dec. 20th. I was able to get past the activation and
get it working by using the
following: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=396184. Everything
works except the modem
feature. This is using a Cingular SIM card. I have another SIM card that does
not seem to work properly but I will
keep trying.

Same issue with OOTB 1.1.2 iphone. Independence could not unlock my already AT&T
activated iphone, nor could I downgrade the firmware to 1.0.2. I have not tried
downgrading to 1.1.1 because I am not willing to give up use of the edge modem.
 All
I want is a jailbreak, unlocking is not neccessary.
Thanks.

My phone works now. I did not downgrade to 1.0.2 but only to 1.1.1.
By following some of the tutorials found here in the responses, I was able to
jailbreak my phone. Then I upgraded to 1.1.2 and jailbrake it again. And it
worked.
By the way, I only used iNdependence to put my phone is restore mode the first
time.
I did not follow any of the other steps.
Hope this help.

Dear Norman,
Is your phone fully functional, particularly the edge modem? If so, then I am
willing to take the plunge.
Thanks,

allan

Allan,
My phone is now fully fucntional thanks to a SeatlhSim card I bought. Before
that I could do everything except
making a call. Edge does work, although my provider uses GRPS.
Does this answers your question?
Norm.

Dear Norm,
I have ATT (Cingular) - I let my wife talk me into it - so I should be OK with
service. I'll try tonight and report
back. :) Did you do anything different from the independence help pages?
Thanks,

allan

Allan,
I live in The Netherlands where the iPhone is not on the market yet so I don't
what
it will do if you activate your phone with AT&T. I did not activate it and it
still
works.
When it did not work with iNdependence I followed this instructions:
http://iphone.unlock.no/#Bypass-Activation-and-Jailbreak. After downgrade to
1.1.1 it
worked. The next step was to upgrade again to 1.1.2 and then followed this link
to
jailbreak it again: http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html.
Also tried this http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=396184 on Windows
with
no result.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Norman

Dear Norman,
Downgraded to 1.1.1 using firmware and instructions from
http://iphone.unlock.no/#Bypass-Activation-
and-Jailbreak. Worked like charm. Downloaded 1.1.2 firmware from same site.
Ran Pre Firmware Update in
iNdependence. Updated to 1.1.2 by option-clicking (mac) on Update in iTunes
7.6 and selecting downloaded
firmware (rezipped and renamed .ipsw). Jailbreak in iNdependence. Installed
SSH in iNdependence.
Downloaded and installed NES.app with iNdependence :). Downloaded and
installed BSD Subsystem using
scp. iPhone jailbroken, but phone not working - no service. Deactivated in
iNdep. Service returned.
Everything is working.
Many thanks to you,

allan
