After jailbreak, / is mounted readonly #354

iPhone with 1.1.2

1. Immediately after jailbreaking, it seems / is mounted RW correctly.  2.
I manually installed Installer.app to /Applications via sftp.  3. After
installing Installer.app I attempted to install the BSD Subsystem, which
resulted in a script execution error.  I rebooted the phone at this point.

Upon further investigation, /etc/fstab shows that the root partition is
mounted RO now - and as such can not write to /Applications.

Is there anyway to remount / as RW?

Should I rejailbreak with Independence again?
