Activation error: "error writing modified services.plist to phone" on 1.4 beta 5 #433

I had 1.1.1 running on an unlocked iphone and downgraded to 1.0.2 after I
somehow managed to relock the setting using iFuntastic. Downgrade went
fine, but now I can't activate the phone again and keep getting the error
message "error writing modified services.plist to phone"

Have searched all round and can't seem to find a post with a solution, do I
now have a brick?!
