What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Home button not functioning
2. iTunes unable to detect iPhone (in "Connect to iTunes Mode" or "On";
"Restore mode not available because of Home button malfunction"
3. independence unable to find iPhone

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I just want to restore to take my iPhone back to service.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Jailbroken firmware 1.1.3 on AT&T.
MacBook Pro 10.5

Please provide any additional information below.

So here goes my story. I jailbroke my iPhone in late February, when it was
still complicated, having to put the device in restore mode, downgrading,
jailbreaking, upgrading, iNdependence, etc.

It worked fine and everything, UNTIL the device took a slight fall. After
that, sound was crackly, phone speaker would not work (NOT speakerphone)
AND the Home button stopped functioning.

I thought it would be a no brainer, all the device needed was a full
restore to original Apple firmware 1.1.3 and it would be up and running or
at least in a state that would allow me to return it to Apple.

To my surprise, I was unable to restore because iTunes does not load the
iPhone, neither does iNdependence or ijailbreak app. NOTHING.

I don't care about the hardware malfunctions (I suspect the Home button is
somehow "jammed"), all I need to do is slap on an orginal firmware and go
to the Apple store and get my iPhone repalced.

Please help me in restoring my iPhone before I commit iPhone-harakiri, I've
already ordered a case-opener tool...

Thanks.
