Great news @lizneely, and congrats!
A few of us have a call scheduled tomorrow at 12:00 PM (Eastern) specifically to discuss our plans for the showcase in London next month. If there's any chance that you're available at that time, let me know and I can send you the info! It would be exceptional if you could join and give your thoughts - your beta collections system is one of very few (or only?) live applications we could point to during the showcase. To this point, we've been discussing using mock-ups and/or walking attendees through the data in a more narrative fashion. The last Linked Art call was only about the showcase, and the notes from the agenda will give you a sense of where our thinking is at at this time: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k4d3mrpnRtNw86JdGnBF3iinNxVK3HHROO_fO1o_oyk/edit?usp=sharing
@SamiNorling -- I just had a 10 MT call canceled, so I can join you! Pass on the call deets, if you would.
Thanks! Liz
Hi @SamiNorling -- are you saying I need to go to London? :)
I just read through the notes and found examples (with browser views) of some of the things brought up. Also, I'd be happy to share a way that I've already used this for curatorial decision making.
Of course you know how to get these through the data, but here’s how they reveal themselves on the browser.
Depicted example Georgia O’Keeffe Depicted (502 entries) https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/search/#filters.role=depicted./actor/2
Photograph depicting artwork (see relationships tab, direct reference, there is also a sketch) https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/object/136/
Exhibition checklist (of O’Keeffe Museum Objects) Can be seen in the Relationships tab for an object (art, archives, etc.) https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/archive/component/aspace_b95(l022fb347269c9c69ef6dfcece59d3/ Or get a results by using the view all https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/search/#filters.exhibition=exhibition/67
Exhibitions depicting a space and exhibitions at this venue (in this case, Stieglitz’s 291 gallery) https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/actor/1459/
And not notes mention the 1946 MoMA retrospective - here are the works from the O'Keeffe Collection: https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/search/#filters.exhibition=exhibition/269
We have the Cat Res and (presumably) full checklists in our data, but aren't publishing the non-GOKM.. though that is a project I'd like to figure out.
My colleague and I are working through adding exhibition more checklists and should have about 400 more exhibitions populated with objects within the next month.
Look forward to discussing tomorrow. Thanks, Liz
Hello all,
I'm pleased to announce that the O'Keeffe museum's linked data, using the Linked Art target model, is now published!!
You can find the JSON and RDF here: https://github.com/okeeffemuseum/collections-data
And the browser will give a sense of what is published: https://collections.okeeffemuseum.org/
We have published 4 collection areas: Art, Artist Materials, Archives, Books (O'Keeffe's personal library), Homes and Artist Possessions, and People and Organizations (You can find more about how we define these areas on our About page.
Links to view or download the JSON-LD can be found under:
Many thanks go to Design for Context for being our technical partner on this project and to the team at the O'Keeffe Museum for all their data work (which continues!) Special thanks to Charlie Butcosk and Lisa Battle of DfC for their work the last few months!
Are there ways that this new data offering can help the showcase? Also, we'd be happy to chat about it on a Linked Art call if that's of interest. We're also always open to hearing feedback as to how this can be improved.
Thanks, Liz Liz Neely Curator of Digital Experience Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Santa Fe, N.M.
