Certainly there is a thread somewhere regarding this, so if anyone could kindly direct me there, I'd appreciate it if even to just check on its progress.
Posting a link (e.g. from a blog post) will result in a broken thumbnail on LinkedIn or, LinkedIn will grab an unrelated image from the page (e.g. the author's image and blow it up) if the image is in WebP format. Likely, this is not intended, and as all other major social networking sites support WebP and some websites use WebP for site optimization/favorable SEO, I think it would be a good idea to consider supporting it.
