Safari text boxes are scrambled when Nocturne is active #1

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Start Nocturne 1.0.4 and switch to night mode.
2. Start Safari and load www.google.com.
3. Type into the search box and notice that the text appears scrambled.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected output is readable text. Actual output is a scrambled text box. I'm
unable to get a
screenshot as capturing the screen causes it to be refreshed, which unscrambles
the text box.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Nocturne 1.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The hardware is a first-generation
MacBook Pro 15"
with a 1.83 GHz Core Duo, 2 GB RAM, and an ATI Radeon X1600 video card with 128
MB VRAM.

I am not able to reproduce this issue. Could you please list the settings for
your
Night Mode in Nocturne and check to see if you have a different Font set up for
Safari?

happens again

That is strange. If you switch any of the options in Nocturne does this fix
itself?

Could you try the new version I just uploaded and check for OSX updates?

It appears to be the monocrome setting as it will still do it when the others
are off, but when I turn the others on
and monocrome off, it works fine. Also, if you switch to a different app but
leave ichat on top, the text
goes back to normal. I will test it now.

I just ran 1.0.5 and it still caused the issue. While I program, I don't know
much about core graphics. Could it
be that filter?

I'm still not able to reproduce this with Mac OS X 10.5.4 and Nocturne 1.0.5 on
a
newer MacBook Pro 3,1. The graphics card is a GeForce 8600M GT. My best guess
is that
it's a driver issue.

The switch to monochrome appears to be an undisclosed system call as the
function is
not defined in Nocturne and I can't find any documentation on the call:
(void)CGDisplayForceToGray(BOOL)

My MacBookPro is a 1,1 and the graphics card is ATY,RadeonX1600. If I am the
only one with the issue don't
worry about it, but if others have the problem, I will be happy to alpha test
for you.

I'm the original reporter and have a new MacBook so I can no longer reproduce
this problem. Sorry I can't be of
more help. My old MacBook did have the same video card as traisjames, so it
definitely could be a driver issue.

Me again... it only seems to be happening when I have the "Monochrome" option
checked... I can straight invert just fine, as can I invert with tint colours
checked... Turning Monochrome on, eve from the settings panel, seems to glitch
it up (as above)
