Can you provide a link to the driver source?
It says "For Linux kernel 2.6.18 ~ 4.4.3". Kernel 4.4.3 is pretty old, so that could be why it doesn't work. I suggest you look for a more up-to-date driver.
Also, I assume you did install linux-headers-surface before trying this?
Nope, I just plugged it in, updated and did a reboot

It seems that the device doesn't recognize the usb at boot. I have to unplug and plug it again, it takes some time but it seems that now it's working properly. Thank you qzed!
[Description of the bug or feature] TP-Link TL-WN725N Hi, I just got a usb wifi adapter tp-link tl-wn725n and it's not working on my Surface Pro 3, I tried to install the drivers from the website but it wasn't possible, it showed this error message . I think this adapter may not be compatible with this kernel but I just wanted to know if there's any solution
