The idea would be to have an example directory inside wpan-tools which contains basic API examples for the following:

Get attributes from the netlink interface
Usage of the socket API for plain ieee802154 sockets o Usage of the socket API for 6LoWPAN usage

I would remove the current socket api and replace it with a new one.

Above this new socket api for ngaf802154 we should make some examples. Then later replace ngaf802154 with af802154.

@zmingshi why are you using this issue about wpan socket examples for a complete different issue?

This is not a discussion forum but an issue tracker. If you want to discuss changes to wpan-ping.c use the mailing list and show the source code of your modifications. http://vger.kernel.org/vger-lists.html#linux-wpan

A set of examples for the socket API has been merged in master today. The examples folder holds them and can hold further examples in the future if needed.
