send_ntwrk_info: Failed to alloc memory for beacon/probe rsp #3

Open HDC67 opened 5 years ago

HDC67 commented 5 years ago

Hardware: SAMA5D4Xplained dev board + ATWILC1000-SD (rev 4) dev board

Software: wilc_demo 15.2RC1 from: https://github.com/linux4wilc/wilc_demo/tree/009b36048d18ffb64b2140eeecd0194cc21cbfd4

Updated firmware to 15.2RC3 firmware for this one:

# cat /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
ctrl_interface=/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=0

network={
ssid="AP"
psk="01234567"
}

There is no "AP" access point in the vicinity i.e. the unit has nothing to connect to. There are quite a few other APs around though as you can see in the log.

modprobe wilc-sdio
ifconfig wlan0 up
/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dnl80211 -iwlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -B

firmware log has numerous memory allocation errors - this can't be good right:

e.g. all these occurr together in a short space of time.

@ShonkyCH I have the same problem. Did you solve it?

On the release firmware? I'm not surprised they haven't fixed it, if so.

There is no fix that I'm aware of but I haven't monitored the module debug port recently to see if it was fixed. The firmware is completely closed source and undocumented so we have no idea what it really means and there there is little we can do but report it and wait. I report them and they might fix them.

But like the other issue, I just don't have the time to burn chasing down Microchip's bugs for them. Something like this should be fairly obvious in their internal testing.
