Language packs are not updated #1808

Deepin v20 beta update 6/30/2020 received many good improvements. I wonder why the language packs are not updated?

The idea of the beta version is to test all parts before the official version is released. I want to be absolutely sure that all the texts I have translated are correct and working.

can you tell me, is there, like, a specific app where the translation isn't updated (in which language)? Before they pushed it, they told me that they noticed it this time, and they all checked the translation problems and updated the language pack translation. The.

I am glad that you take this seriously. The language packs have not changed since the beta version of the release. Applies to all languages (see image I submitted). All packages are at the level of April 16th. I have received a beta 7-8 v20 update, but all are improvements to the programs.

I feel like we have lost the translators now Dutch, French, Polish, Russian, German and Arabic. Arabia, for example, was still 100% in May (now 1500 lines untranslated in Transifex). I haven't given up yet. So many hours done and the v20 release so close.

We translators have started a tool to download Trasifex ts files, convert them to qm and copy them to the correct folders. The program is now running and my translations are almost working. Therefore, in the picture, the Finnish and English packages are new.

Maybe you have released a new Deepin v20 beta2 ISO image and there is everything ok? I haven’t heard of this, and no one else in Deepin translators.

I hope you get the project in the right direction.

Hello, what @mahtiankka says is true. All translations of all applications and the entire system are out of date.

Deepin 20 beta has not included any of the translations or fixes made since April. In some cases, corrections made in February are not yet included.

To test and review translations made in the past few months, I programmed a tool that downloads all translations from transifex, converts .ts and .po files to .qm and .mo, and then copies the translations to their corresponding folders.

But this is a partial solution, because not all translations can be added to the system with .qm and .mo files.

At transifex you can see that many translators have not done translations again for weeks.

People are leaving the translations of the project because don't see its many hours of work getting pushed to any updates in v20 beta, so think it will not be pushed at all to a new version of Deepin. @igatjens tool helps us see where we need to fine-tune the translated strings, but many people don't want or don't have the skill to use it. Many languages still 100% up to date with translations, but it's disappointing don't see then get pushed on the updates.

Hello everyone. I still haven't given up on translating and I probably won't do it but it is frustrating to see that all my work on translating deepin into Portuguese has not yet been introduced in v20 edition. I have always kept the project 100% translated.

Fuleron commented 4 years ago

I'm in this project from 2017 and kept serbian translations at 100% for all that time. Now I really struggle to keep my enthusiasm alive. We went from 28 languages at 100% to maybe 8 - 10. I love this project and it hurts me to see international support diminishing. I don't know if developers are aware, but by not merging translations, they are hurting this project. Please make solutions to push translations automatically, because it is not the first time that somebody tried to talk to devs, and it is all in vain.

Best regards.

The reason was found, the translator was updated by them last time, but there is a manual work behind them (they didn’t do it, maybe they don’t know); so,,,,;

Now a language translation synchronization tool has been developed and promoted internally;

@hudeng-go We can check the translation in CI when tag the project.

hudeng-go commented 1 year ago

@zccrs Understand and prioritize adding translation checks.
