Are you using a read only device or mount your disk as read only? Which file system this device/volume used?
It is a partition in my hard disk, one contains windows
, the other contains my data, both are NTFS
.
If you enabled fast boot / fast startup on your windows, when you normally poweroff windows and boot up linux, the ntfs partitions (aka. hibernated Windows partitions) will be read only. That's normal and this behavior is not releated with any file manager application.
It has nothing to see with Windows
fast boot, please read the issue, I have no problems with nautilus
ever.
As you mentioned some time maybe when you checking this function with nautilus after Windows reboot(different with poweroff), please ensure you did uncheck the Turn on fast startup option (from Windows setting, at Control Panel > Power Options.), and when you got this issue with dde-file-manager, please check if nautilus also have this problem at the same session (don't reboot your computer).
No, normally it happens all time whether reboot from windows
or not. The most of the time it happens after reboot linux
.
I can't reproduce this issue.
It shouln't happen since linux itself doesn't do anything about labeling a patition as hibernated. So please do check if you unchecked the Turn on fast startup option first. This will only be happend when you enable the fast startup feature on your Windows, and you do poweroff / halt your PC and then switch to linux.
Next time when this issue happend, please do also check if nautilus can write files or not (in the same login session).
Provide more information (which distro you are using, which version of dde-file-manager you are using, related log file, lsblk
, etc...) is also useful for tracking a bug.
Ok, i have news:
I was in a session whit this curious issue, so, i proceded to reboot my computer, from linux
; i entered again in session and i didn't get this error:
This is the date: 20180719151413
After that i rebooted once time more trying to test this issue, no problem.
But after that i had a reboot because of thermal throttling and i tested this issue again, i got it one more time:
Why?
And we still have another current issue: OS folder permissions.
I tested nautilus
permissions:
I had to reboot again because the desktops weren't working(all was playing, music for example, but i couldn't change between desktops and windows, alt+tab
and super + ->
was not working.
I get this bug again.
You still haven't provide more useful information like the version of dde-file-mannager(DFM in short) you are using, the related log file and so on. Just saying "it doesn't work" won't help to find out what's the problem is. So hope next time when you got this issue, please comment with at least these informations:
Things like processing alt+tab
is done by the window manager, that also won't cause problem about device mounting and vice versa.
btw, I'm not sure if nautilus provide function like force mount as writeable which can reset the hibernated label just like ntfs3g mount rw
does. DFM don't provide function like this for now in order to keep your file safe.
You can also try use gvfs-mount
to mount the patition and check if it's writeable since v1.7 of DFM are using gvfs as the backend(will be changed to udisks2 in v1.8).
I'm sorry:

As i told you before, no, i didn't turn on fast startup
in Windows, i disabled it long time ago.
I just updated deepin desktop
today, i rebooted my laptop and i still have this problem.
Not sure if Arch got a new version of deepin-file-manager release. We are planning to release a new version in the next few days, hopefully it will fix your problem.
I haven't this problem yet, after three times all works fine; however, i will test it after reboot from windows
, if in the future i get this problem again i will reopen this issue.
It happened again. And Again.
Have you installed ntfs-3g
?
@SiamSami I think no, i don't install anything after Deepin, just development software. But, i will review it after.
@SalahAdDin ntfs-3g
is a program in Archlinux which helps us to browse NTFS partitions(Windows partition) with write permission. You should try installing it.
@SalahAdDin Is it fixed now?
@SiamSami I will check it, but until now, it is not working.
@SalahAdDin Is it still not working? If not, then try installing this, https://github.com/SiamSami/Automount-partition
@SiamSami I think they are not working in deepin so much, it is partially broken on Manjaro.
Sorry I'm no longer working on dde-file-manager project for a long time and there are now a complete different development team for the file manager project. The file manager project may change a lot in the 2 years so maybe your issue has been resolved now.
I did try to reproduce this issue on a deepin v20.4 installation with dde-file-manager 5.5.3-1
installed, and I'm not be able to reproduce this issue, so hopefully this issue is addressed in the most recent version.
We are processing a bunch of old issues for now so unreproducible ancient issues will be closed. I suggest you try the most recent version of dde-file-manager and see if this issue still happens. If it does, please feel free to create another issue with your current installation information so we can look into it.
Thanks!
