I'm experiencing the same thing. I haven't been able to pinpoint what's causing it but it's only a rendering issue.
The login screen is still there you just can't see it.
When you run into this, there's another bug that causes the login screen to be rendered: pressing the power button (as long as you have the power button set to its default behavior of showing a dialog).
Otherwise, you can just input your password and press enter and you should be able to log back in.

Sorry for my bad English is not my Mother Language. Linux Mint 20 is a great Release. I use it on a Thinkpad X1 Extreme (First Generation). But i have a problem, alwasy when I close my Notebook the Desktop is Freezing.
When i open the Notebook i don't see the Login Screen, i only see the Desktop but no Interactions are possible - is completly freezed.
