Looks like this has also been noticed previously too https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-screensaver/issues/92
I've just updated the title to only include the "Spanned" option as it seems after some testing that cinnamon-screensaver DOES respect the "Zoomed" "Stretched" and "Scaled" option but just will not respect the "Spanned" setting.
So here's an interesting additional development - I use a spanned wallpaper, and I see the correct behavior.
However, if I use an animated screensaver it makes it look strange, with about half of it on one monitor and half on the other. (The white line was added by me - it represents approximately where the animation gets split in two by the monitors)
Would there be any way to make the lock screen and screensaver settings independent?
So I have an awkward multi-monitor setup and I kept having this bug whereby the primary wallpaper would not display correctly (not important here) which led me to make my own tiled wallpaper to span both monitors If I use this weird mismatched wallpaper and set cinnamon to 'span' the wallpaper then it appears nicely like this Looks weird I know but that's my setup, deal. This also in a roundabout way let me set different wallpapers on my two monitors which I don't think Cinnamon let's you do yet.
Any way skip to the end, this is how the image appears when the screensaver kicks in (I couldn't seem to grab a screen from the lock screen, so photo it is, sorry about the poor quality). Hopefully though you can see the wallpaper in the screen saver defaults to the standard option which is to scale the wallpaper to each screen, something which I would not think to be expected behaviour. Hopefully this is an easy on, but it's not exactly a showstopper for me
