Same issue with me after uprading to Mint 20.2. The catergory names flicker when navigating apps and scrolling through application menu. Cinnamon version - 5.0.5

Lurux commented 3 years ago

I had noticed this when working on the "switch categories by clicking" option for the menu. At the time I was using a direct build from the master Github branch, so I didn't report it as I thought it would get fixed.

It's not very problematic IMO, though

Irregular and ugly trimmings on the categories

celluloid-shot0001 This is just another variant from the above. (This one is a real screenshot !)

Same issue with me after upgrading to Mint 20.2.

CONFIRMED: This bug came with Mint 20.2. I couldn't reproduce this bug on the previous Mint 20.1. EDIT: Tested on a VirtualBox Linux Mint 20.1 with the latest updates, Cinnamon version 4.8.6. No bugs there. Using a virtual 1360x768 screen.

I have the same bug

NerdsMaxx commented 2 years ago

I'm using cinnamenu. https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/322 You can make it very similar to another one.

@clefebvre @mtwebster this bug is still present in LM 20.3 beta:

https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/68134588/147363736-77571128-10ec-4455-ac52-f87637d40ec5.mp4

maybe it could be related: A similar bug were reported in the Cinnamenu@json applet 1 / 2. It was later corrected

NerdsMaxx commented 2 years ago

Hello! @clefebvre @mtwebster Did you find out the solution? I really like this menu.

Sorry for my english!

fredcw commented 2 years ago

The Cinnamenu@json bugs mentioned above are unrelated.

gwillgues commented 2 years ago

Same issue with debian unstable on Cinnamon 5.2.7

thelabcat commented 2 years ago

Same issue with Linux Mint 20.3, NVidia 2060 RTX SUPER with proprietary drivers 510, Cinnamon 5.2.7 "una."

phucwan91 commented 2 years ago

same issue

SebastJava commented 2 years ago

@phucwan91 Try this: https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/322 I switched to this Cinnamenu a long time ago to avoid this issue here. Cinnamenu is just better.

Install Cinnamenu, then remove the standard Mint menu, and then move Cinnamenu to the bottom left corner of your screen, or wherever you prefer.

phucwan91 commented 2 years ago

thanks @SebastJava but it didn't fix the issue, it's happened everywhere my case, not just the menu. Please see again my above snapshot.

SebastJava commented 2 years ago

@phucwan91 Oh yes, sorry, I should have taken 10 more seconds to really look at your screenshot. It really looks much worst than what I have seen. And it is happening everywhere!? Then I don't think it is the same issue.

Maybe you should open a new issue here on https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues but I feel the dev team is totally overloaded, so you won't get answers anytime soon. So, maybe you should make a new topic on https://forums.linuxmint.com I am pretty sure you would get some feedback there, much faster than here...

Now upgraded to Mint 21 - all visual menu problems are gone! Best solution in my eyes...

ghost commented 8 months ago

I have the same problem on Mint 21.3

SebastJava commented 8 months ago

@hogsmead I can't reproduce this. I though this problem was gone. I agree it looks very bad.

Try Cinnamenu, as mentioned before: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/10212#issuecomment-1230167660
