Multimedia key "volume UP" DEcreases volume at certain preconditions #10269

 * Cinnamon 5.0.5
 * LM 20.2, 64 bit

Issue When using the multimedia volume keys of my keyboard, oftentimes hitting "volume up" results in decreased system audio volume for the first keypress.

Steps to reproduce I found a pattern and way to reproduce: It seems to happen

a) when you decrease the volume via scrolling over the loudspeaker symbol in the taskbar first, and then press multimedia key "volume up". For example decrease (scroll down) the volume to 55, hit the "volume up" multimedia key -> volume is set to 50...

Or b) when you set the audio volume by mouse dragging (up or down, same result) a volume fader (opening the fader by clicking the loudspeaker symbol in the taskbar or equally when opening sound settings menu and using the master volume fader there) to any value first, and then press multimedia key "volume up": volume will be set to the next lower 5-step. For example drag the volume slider to 49, hit the "volume up" multimedia key -> volume is set to 45... (Exceptions are: dragging to a full 5-step and then hitting "volume up" key will preserve the volume on same value (so e.g. 75 stays 75); dragging to 95 will jump down to 90; and dragging to anything above 96 will - correctly! - jump to 100!)

Expected behaviour Pressing the "volume up" multimedia key on the keyboard should ALWAYS increase the volume...!

Other information I've been using Mint for for several years now and I am completely sure that this has not been erratic in previous versions (like Mint 19.x or so...).

Digging around I found several things things that are strange and might be related, see: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/10134 "Mismatch of audio volume when using multimedia volume keys vs. mouse" https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/10268 "Mismatch of system audio volume and AlsaMixer"

Confirmed on manjaro.

I have a similar problem with Mint 20.3 on MacBook 5,1 (2008).

I didn't notice a particular pattern, the is a problem every time, but the behaviour vary slightly: the first key press can have no effect on the volume or can decrease it.
