Guild Wars 2 bugs only in cinnamon #11311

 * Cinnamon version 5.6.2  (arch repo)
 * Distribution - Arch
 * Graphics hardware *and* driver used mesa/amd apu
 * 64 bit
 * Attach ~/.xsession-errors, or /var/log/syslog (don't have any right now)

Issue

While playing Guild Wars 2 the game can't alt+tab a lot of time. the effect of alt+tab is to switch to whatever program is next but the screen flickers with the game window on top of the active program. all command are send to the program i just switched to but the screen keeps flashing like crazy. also some time the game just "freeze" as in the game is still running as i can hear the sound of other things that it happens in the game but the screen it freeze the entire desktop. can't alt+tab or minimize anything from shortcut. the only solution is go in another console and kill the game from there. also the game is working slower compare to kde. on kde i have none of this issues.

the bug is a few months old. i don't know when it started. i already switch to kde for more than 2 weeks and kept waiting for the bug but nothing happens.

on cinnamon i've also tried gamescope but i still got the game to freeze the entire desktop. the game is set to full screen window mode

i even reintall the entire arch+cinnamon and i still get the same bug

Steps to reproduce

just play the game. i'm not sure you need a crowded place.

and these are from when the game froze the desktop. after a few switches back and forward from console to graphical (game) the entire laptop froze completely. xsess_2.txt xsess_3.txt

it seems that cinnamon got worse from last time i reported the bug. now i had a few occasions when the game started to flash on the bottom half of the screen on launch. the only solution is to restart the game. in rest the bug has all other symptoms from before.
