Issue

Since an update the 30 december, strange things are happening with my display. On Firefox for example, some parts of the web pages have no solid background, and I can see my desktop wallpaper through the text, which make it difficult to read anything. It not like the entire page background is missing, only some random areas. Sometime if I click on the text with the missing background, it comes back. On VSCode, some parts of my code shows with a font is bolder than it should be, and it "flickers". When I scroll, the lines with that problem change randomly.

Steps to reproduce

The following packages were updated the 30 december, and I have the problem since. I rollbacked all these packages to their previous version today, and things went back to normal, but it not a long term solution.

• libegl-mesa0
• libegl-mesa0:i386
• libegl1-mesa-dev
• libgbm1
• libgbm1:i386
• libgl1-mesa-dev
• libgl1-mesa-dri
• libgl1-mesa-dri:i386
• libgl1-mesa-glx:i386
• libglapi-mesa
• libglapi-mesa:i386
• libglx-mesa0
• libglx-mesa0:i386
• libosmesa6
• libosmesa6:i386
• libxatracker2
• mesa-common-dev
• mesa-va-drivers
• mesa-va-drivers:i386
• mesa-vdpau-drivers
• mesa-vulkan-drivers
• mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386

Other information

I saw that there have been other problems with Intel graphics in the past and I tried to add "i915.enable_dc=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=2" to my grub file, but it didn't help.

I have the same issue. I am running Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.1. I have only noticed the problem in Firefox. I installed Chromium which to date has not exhibited the problem. Note that I upgraded my system from 20.3 to 21.1 using instructions from this link: https://www.debugpoint.com/upgrade-linux-mint-21-from-20-3/. Also note that I run Linux Mint in a VirtualBox 7 VM. Finally note that the problem only began after a recent apt update (refer to attached file).

Had the same problem after upgrading from 20.3 to 21.1 (in VM). Disabling "hardware acceleration" in Firefox seems to have helped.
