Audio not working with new kernel: Dummy output #12491

Bug description

After updating kernel to 6.8.0-48 (and reboot), the sound did not work any more. It simply showed "Dummy Output" in the sound settings.

After downgrading back to 6.8.0-47, the issue was gone.

Steps to reproduce

Upgrade system to kernel 6.8.0.-48 and reboot.

Expected behavior

Sound setting will show "Dummy output".

Additional information

The system still states that I use kernel 6.8.0-48-generic, which is confusing me.

Hello all, I'm reporting the same problem after update.

Distribution Mint 21.3

Package version PulseAudio 15.99.1

Graphics hardware in use VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 630 (rev 04)

Frequency At each startup

Bug description It simply shows Dummy sound in outputs I have to run "systemctl --user restart pulseaudio" to get the sound back

Steps to reproduce Upgrade system to kernel 6.8.0-49-generic and reboot.

Expected behavior Sound setting will show "Dummy output".
