Hmm this works fine for me - is it every time?
no it's not. i just read your email, restarted cinnamon and it came back correctly.the only thing i didn't do this time is change panel applets - i switched from configurable menu to starkmenu and restarted cinnamon because i had some problems with starkmenu. you'll remember starkmenu as the applet that you wrote a long missive to the author telling him how to fix it and get it to work with cinnamjon 2.2. this is his implementation of the fix and the menu works fine after a reboot but when i first switched it had display problems so i restarted cinnamon to see if that fixed them - and the result was the ticket i opened.

If Troubleshoot / Restart Cinnamon is invoked while the desktop is zoomed, Cinnamon 2.2 does not restart. The result is no taskbar, no menu and no window decorations. ACPI Shutdown via the power button DOES bring up the shutdown / restart dialog and can be used to restart the system.
