Linux Mint 17.3 upgrade issue #5141

Closed simmonsm closed 8 years ago

simmonsm commented 8 years ago

My laptop has been running fine for a year or so with LM 17.1 Cinnamon. I just upgraded to 17.3 which appeared to go ok at first. Now after logging-in every 5-10 minutes I loose all the desktop icons and systray icons and get have the background screen showing for about about 10 -15 sec then everything shows again including any open applications which are still working.

I've not had to report an issue before with Linux so please let me know what else I can provide to help diagnose this issue.

I include

  1. My system config from using "inxi -Fxzd"
  2. The content of .xsession-error

I also noticed that the Dropbox systray context menu doesn't show nor are the Cinnamon menu's child items clickable such as Accessories>Calculator though this seemed to work again after the desktop 'crash' described about in my original post. We can see it crashing again here in the .xsession-error log from today:

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? With Mint18 now out for awhile I'm not sure if this is even still valid.

@JosephMcc, can we close this issue?
