Start menu does not close while dragging something. #5396

Open ManuelSchneid3r opened 8 years ago

  1. Drag something, e.g. a file.
  2. Hit Win/Meta/Super (accidentially) (Start menu opens.)
  3. Hit escape to undo/close it. (Drag gets released instead of the start menu closed.)

Well and after it the menu is permanently opened, escape and "focus out" will not close it.

EDIT: The start menu is not clickable at all. It is transparent for mouse clicks.

In my opinion the issue is because of a wrong pop https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/blob/master/js/ui/main.js#L1290. For me it's nice that you can open the menu while dragging things, because for example, you can drag a launcher item from the launcher to the favorite box of the menu.

@lestcape absolutely fine. I dont doubt the usecase. Just the implementation.

@ManuelSchneid3r My comment was because, to solved this, one option could be, disable the key-binding during a drag and drop. This solution isn't good for me, because of my last comment, but really i can not see any other, because the problem involved two different tool-kits ...

I can reproduce this issue in Cinnamon 3.0.7.

Still an issue in Cinnamon 4.4.5
